Free HubSpot Audits Compared: What You Actually Get, and What It Costs You
Free HubSpot audits come in three kinds: agency reviews, Marketplace apps and HubSpot's own Data Model Health Check. What each asks of you, what you get back, and when each is the right choice.

A RevOps lead once asked me which of the "free HubSpot audit" offers in her search results she should accept. She had three tabs open: two agencies and a Marketplace app. All three said free. None of them said what she would have to hand over, or what would come back.
The honest answer was that it depended on what she wanted next. One agency wanted a call before anything else. The app wanted access to her CRM straight away. And there was a free check inside her own HubSpot account she had not noticed, which needed neither. Each "free" offer was paid for in a different way: her time, her data, or a sales conversation.
That is the gap this article fills. I am leaving out paid audit tools, which the audit tools comparison covers, and the price of paid audits, which the audit cost breakdown covers. Everything below is free to the person running it. What differs is the price you pay in other ways.
I checked every offer on 2 November 2026, against the provider's own page, its HubSpot Marketplace listing, or HubSpot's knowledge base. Offers change, so read the provider's page again before you sign up.
Three kinds of free HubSpot audit, and who pays for each
Agency free audits. A HubSpot partner agency reviews your portal by hand and talks you through what it found. The agency pays for the consultant's time because the audit is how it wins paid projects.
Free Marketplace apps. You install an app from the HubSpot Marketplace, it reads your portal over OAuth, and it produces a score or report. The developer pays for the computing and hopes some users upgrade, or, for apps built by agencies, book a call.
HubSpot's own checks. Tools built into your HubSpot account. HubSpot pays, as part of the subscription you already have.
None of these is a trick. Knowing who pays tells you what the offer is designed to lead to.
Agency free audits: what you hand over and what comes back
These are the top-ranking agency offers for "free hubspot audit". For each, the details come from the agency's own audit page.
- Vye. Its page offers "a free, no-strings-attached audit to uncover hidden opportunities, fix what's broken, and drive more revenue." You fill in a form describing your main problem, receive an email with access instructions, and a 30-minute call walks you through the findings. The page gives no turnaround time.
- Revstac. It says it will "surface what's broken in your data, automations, and reporting." The process starts with a 15-minute call, then view-only access to your portal. The deliverable is a written report, which the page says typically runs to 20+ pages with findings scored by priority and effort, plus a live walkthrough, usually within a week of access. Revstac says it works with Professional tier portals and above, and that cleanup work is quoted separately.
- Fuelius. It offers "free, no-obligation HubSpot portal audits to anyone using the HubSpot platform." The page lists website performance, "Features, processes and tools you might have missed" and "quick wins that you can utilise right now", followed by "a no-obligation consultation call to walk you through our findings". It does not state the access it needs or a turnaround time.
- RevPartners (a RevOps consultancy, audit page). Its page promises "Unbiased expertise" and "Zero strings attached." The page does not set out the scope or the steps after booking.
- Resonate. It names five areas: "workflows, sales pipelines, website performance, CRM data quality, and AI readiness." It says: "We reply within one business day. No portal access is needed to start." The deliverable is "findings and a prioritized roadmap".
What you get that no app gives you: a person who can ask why your lifecycle stages are set up the way they are. A person can also spot a process problem that looks fine in the data.
The catch: most of these offers put a third party inside your portal, and most include a call. Vye and Revstac both ask for access; Resonate says none is needed to start. Decide before you start which access you will grant and who must approve it. The review is only as deep as the consultant has time for, and the findings will lean towards work that agency sells. That is a fair trade if you were going to hire help anyway. It is a poor one if you only wanted a list of problems.
Free Marketplace apps: what their listings promise
Each of these apps has a free plan on its HubSpot Marketplace listing. The limits come from the listing itself.
- Kalungi RevOps Audit. "Free forever. No credit card, no seat limits, no setup fee." The limit: "every portal gets two fresh audits a day." It produces a 0 to 100 score across CRM, Marketing, Sales and Service, and the listing says "The app requests read scopes only."
- DiffSpot (a portal inventory app by Concretio, listing). A free plan at $0 that inventories custom objects, properties, pipelines, workflows, forms, lists and more. The listing says "All data access is read-only and OAuth-secured." It states no usage limit.
- Platform Audit Pro (Boundary). The free plan gives "25 One-time Credits," "Connect Up to 1 Hub" and "Up to 1 Audit/Month." Paid plans add monthly credits.
- Portal Audit by Cyberclick. "100% free to install and use." You get an instant snapshot (contacts, active versus inactive records, stalled deals, ticket volumes, lead sources). Then: "Within 5 business days, a HubSpot specialist from the Cyberclick team will review your snapshot and contact you." It is an app and an agency audit in one.
- Platform Auditor (Vonazon). A single free plan that "generates an overall health score out of 100 with an AI-written executive summary." No usage limit is stated.
- PortalPilot, which I built. The free plan is €0 with no credit card, and includes 12 analyses per calendar year. You get the Overview tab: health scores for the object types it can analyse, CRM adoption metrics, industry benchmarks and quick win suggestions. Diagnostics, Trends, Issues and Recommendations need a paid plan. A read-only install is available, and analyses never write to HubSpot.
What you get: results in minutes, no call, and a check you can rerun after a cleanup to see whether anything moved.
The catch: you grant an app ongoing access to your CRM, so read its permissions screen and its privacy page. A free plan also shows less than the paid one, by design. Install counts on these listings ranged from under 10 to 90+ on the day I checked, and most had no reviews yet, so you are often an early user. DiffSpot and Kalungi state read-only access on their listings, and PortalPilot offers a separate read-only install.
HubSpot's own free checks: start here
The Data Model Health Check is the free audit I would run first on any portal. HubSpot's article lists it as available with "All products and plans", which includes the free CRM (source). You find it under Data Management, then Data Model, on the Health tab.
What HubSpot's documentation says it does:
- "The health check detects 16 issue types across 5 categories": objects, properties, associations, pipelines and lifecycle stages.
- Property issues include low fill rate, inactive properties, "Similar (duplicate) property", and "High fill rate, no usage".
- Pipeline issues include too many stages and a missing closed stage.
- "The scan may take up to 20 minutes to complete." There is no notification when it finishes.
- "If your last health check ran more than 30 days ago, a banner prompts you to re-run it."
- "Issue dismissal is not available in the current version." An issue you have decided to keep stays on the list.
One warning. Some of the actions on the results page change your portal: archive a property, delete a custom object, delete an association. HubSpot shows a confirmation first, but read every row before you bulk archive. Export the property history for anything you are unsure about.
Automatic deduplication also runs on every plan. HubSpot's article says it is available with "All products and plans" and explains that new contacts are matched by email address and new companies by the primary company domain. Companies created through the API are not deduplicated this way (source).
What is not free is the next step up. Reviewing and merging individual duplicates needs a Professional subscription: "A Professional or Enterprise subscription is required to manage individual duplicates" (source). The data quality overview page is listed from Starter upwards, not on the free CRM (source).
The catch: the health check tells you what looks wrong in the structure of your portal. It does not score how complete your records are, rank what to fix first, or keep a history of past scans, because each rerun replaces the previous results. It also does not explain the business reason behind a setup. For the manual side of an audit, the data quality audit guide walks through the areas a structural scan misses.
The three kinds side by side
| Agency free audit | Free Marketplace app | HubSpot Data Model Health Check | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you hand over | Your contact details, at least one call, and portal access for a consultant | An OAuth connection to the app | Nothing |
| Who looks at your data | A person at the agency | The app's servers | HubSpot, inside your account |
| Time to results | One business day to about a week, where stated | Minutes; Cyberclick's specialist follow-up takes up to 5 business days | Up to 20 minutes |
| What you get | Written findings and a walkthrough | A score, report or inventory | A list of 16 issue types, with links to fix them |
| Rerun it? | Not without asking again | Within the free plan's limit | Any time |
| Main catch | A sales process, and a third party with access | Access to your CRM, a capped or reduced free plan, often few reviews | Structure only; no ranking, no history, no dismissing issues |
| Right when | You are ready to hire help and want to see how an agency thinks | You want a self-serve baseline and a way to measure progress | Always, first |
How to choose a free HubSpot audit
- Run HubSpot's Data Model Health Check first. It is free on every plan, needs no third party, and shows the structural problems everyone else would also find. Bring its results to anything you do next.
- Choose an agency audit when you already plan to hire help. The call is then a fair interview in both directions. Ask before you start what access they need, who at the agency will see your data, and what the written deliverable contains.
- Choose a free app when you want a baseline you can rerun. Pick one whose listing states read-only access, check the free plan's limit, and run it again a month after your cleanup. If you need to compare a sandbox against production, DiffSpot is built for that. If you want a score you can hand to a manager, Kalungi or PortalPilot will give you one.
- Do not stack every free offer. Three agencies with access to your portal means three sets of permissions to revoke later.
If you outgrow the free options, the paid tools comparison and the audit cost breakdown pick up from here. For what a single health score can and cannot tell you, read CRM health score explained. If the free health check shows dozens of low-fill properties, the unused properties guide covers how to retire them safely, and the data hygiene cheat sheet covers keeping them from coming back.
